Stand-up comedian Jasper Murume has confirmed that he was in a relationship with the late Tabitha Gatwiri.
He said this during Tabitha’s memorial service, which took place at Blue Springs Hotel in Thika on Monday, November 11, 2024.
While delivering a heartfelt eulogy for the late creative, Jasper expressed that the reality of her passing still felt like an unbearable nightmare and wished he could wake up and escape the overwhelming grief of her loss.
“Nafeel nikama… ushawahi amka alafu upate ulikuwa unaota ndoto mbaya unaanza kusema shindwe kwa sababu Gatwiri ameamua kutuachanisha (I feel as if… have you ever had a scenario where you wake up from having a bad dream and you quickly start rebuking the happenings of that dream because you don’t want them to come true.. because Gatwiri has decided to leave us).
We had so many plans; we were planning to work on so many things together,” Jasper started off emotionally.
He disclosed that he met the late Gatwiri in 2018, confirming that the two dated for a while before parting ways amicably.
Although, they had been creating content together often starring in funny skits as a couple the actor maintained at the time of Gatwiri’s passing they had long split and were just business partners contrary to popular belief.
Noting, “She was my girlfriend. But I’m now married with a child. After the breakup, it was never the same again, but we continued working together as professionals.
We had a strict working relationship, and I had set boundaries that you wouldn’t want your ex to cross. The love-hate relationship was there, but we were great colleagues,”
