Diamond Platnumz holds the top spot on Kenya’s music charts as the most-watched artiste on YouTube for 2024, dominating individual songs and overall artist rankings.
The Tanzanian superstar achieved a staggering 125 million views over the past year, according to statistics compiled between December 2023 and December 2024.
In the Top Songs category, Nina Siri (Live) by gospel artist Israel Mbonyi took the crown as the most-watched song with an impressive 30 million views, followed by Mbonyi’s Nitaamini (Live) at 22.1 million views.
Diamond Platnumz appeared twice on the list with Mapoz, a collaboration with Mr. Blue and Jay Melody, amassing 14.5 million views, and Enjoy, alongside Jux, securing 19.5 million views.
Other notable entries include Otile Brown’s One Call and Shenseea’s Hit & Run, highlighting a diversity of music tastes in Kenya, ranging from gospel and bongo flava to international collaborations.
The Top Artists list further underscores Diamond Platnumz’s dominance, with his 125 million views outpacing the second-place artist, Harmonize, who garnered 85.6 million views. Rayvanny and gospel artist Israel Mbonyi rounded out the top four with 83.4 million and 75.4 million views, respectively.
Female artists also shone brightly, with Zuchu ranking fifth with 73.6 million views and Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr making the top 10 with 46.9 million views.
Meanwhile, Kenyan artists like Guardian Angel (55.5 million views) and Otile Brown (46.6 million views) made significant contributions, showcasing the local industry’s competitive presence on YouTube.
This data reflects Kenyan audiences’ deep appreciation for East African music, and global sounds, making YouTube an increasingly vital platform for artists to connect with their fans.
