Eddy Kenzo’s wife Phiona Nyamutoro now says she did not appreciate her proposal as the Ugandan musician popped the question during their second business meeting.
Nyamutoro, who serves as the Ugandan Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, shared this news while congratulating Kenzo on his new position as the senior presidential advisor for creatives and the creative industry in Uganda.
Nyamutoro recalled that Kenzo had been attempting to arrange a meeting with her for quite some time, but her hectic schedule had made it difficult.
“When I finally met him, I was expecting someone much shorter—I don’t know why. So, I was surprised when he walked into the room, and he was actually tall. He introduced himself, and I couldn’t stop noticing his height,” she said.
Their first meeting was purely business, but Nyamutoro was struck by Kenzo’s positive outlook on life. “I was intrigued by how someone with his background could have such a positive perspective on life. It didn’t make sense to me,” she noted.
In their second meeting, Kenzo’s proposal took Nyamutoro by surprise. “He said, ‘I want to marry you.’ I looked around to see if he was talking to someone else and even asked if he was practicing for another proposal. In my mind, the idea of me marrying a musician seemed impossible,” she recalled.
As they spent more time together, Nyamutoro came to see Kenzo as a man with a big heart. The couple has since introduced each other to their families, affirming their commitment to each other.
