Ex-TPF Singer Peter Msechu Loses 27 Kgs After Gastric Bypass Surgery

Peter Msechu, a Tanzanian singer and former Tusker Project Fame(TPF) star, recently underwent Gastric bypass surgery to address his weight issues.

During a Twitter Space discussion on Healthy Living, Msechu revealed that he has shed 27 kilograms following the Gastric bypass surgery.

Peter Msechu, the Tanzanian singer and former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) star, admitted that his weight struggles were largely due to his unhealthy eating habits, a long-standing issue for him. At one point, his weight had surpassed 150 kilograms.

“When I was young, I used to tell my parents that I would buy my sacks of rice so that I could eat the way I wanted. I saw this as valuable, but in the long run, it led to significant weight gain,” he said.

Msechu noted that gastric bypass surgery can be a lifesaver for many, including those with severe obesity. He shared that his eating habits included consuming three plates of rice and chips in a single meal and a fondness for sugary foods.

“It reached a point when I saw my kids being given good food and I wanted it too. In the end, this led to health issues,” Msechu explained.

On January 27, 2023, Msechu received an intragastric balloon to aid in weight loss, resulting in a 30-kilogram reduction. However, he regained the weight after the balloon was removed.

He joins the growing list of celebrities who have undergone similar surgeries including Willis Raburu, Big Ted, and Wema Sepetu.
